Salaam Remi tells SoulCulture about official Sade Lovers Rock remixes he made featuring Nas back in 2001, that the label decided not to release in the end. “That was right while I was doing my first productions for [Nas], when I did “What Goes Around” for Stillmatic; during those same sessions we did it… They have [the Sade remix]. Maybe they’ll throw it on the b-side for the next single or something. Maybe.”
With regard to leaking his own music, Remi has his creations locked down to make sure it doesn’t happen; “The vault is very thick when it comes to unreleased materials, but I’m not a person that will violate an artist’s creative freedom… ”
However, he recalls with annoyance the time that he and Nas were recording a version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” whilst the war in Iraq was launching – and somehow Pitbull got hold of it and put himself on the record, then leaked it. “I don’t know how he had the audacity…”
since the record was done around the stillmatic era aka before the 2nd ten yr average kicked in ,i would actually like to hear it – salutes marsha for the video
