Producer guru Mannie Fresh has reportedly signed a deal with Def Jam Records to produce and oversee the label’s Southern division. A New Orleans radio station caught up with Fresh, where he shed light on the signing: “I just did a deal with Jay-Z. Dude reached out to me. My thing is to overlook the Southern artists they have, as well as sign artists.”
GUESS WHO’S BIZACK?: Dave Chappelle has returned to cable TV, this time serving as a producer on an HBO pilot titled “Judge Mooney”, starring friend Paul Mooney. Mooney told the L.A. Daily News the show is based on him re-enacting court cases.
